SKILLS Web Design, App Design, Creative Strategy, Art Direction, Editing, Copywriting, Tourism Marketing
This semester-long project aimed to give our class exposure to travel advertising and design. We were tasked with selecting a location to represent as a client for a campaign that included the planning and construction of three main digital marketing elements: an interactive PDF, a website, and a mobile app prototype.
I chose to represent the Dominican Republic, specifically its Southwest region, for this campaign. Having been born and raised in this country, I wanted to take the opportunity to represent one of the most beautiful regions of the country and open it up to international tourists looking to diversify their Caribbean travel experience into a more dynamic, adventurous one.
I wanted this location to be perceived as a trendy and exciting area of adventure, for which I designed my deliverables to have a modern yet personable and cheerful tone and look. I utilized an array of images that I had taken and amassed over the years, edited via Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop to add texture and personality to each image in its composition, and text borrowed from several tourism-centric website that depicted information about the Southwest Dominican Republic, in order to create
my compositions.
Sporting colorful objects and bright images, intermixed with a black and white overall theme, the deliverables invites the user to discover the beauties and wonders of the Southwest Dominican Republic at their own pace. The interactive PDF was created using Adobe Photoshop and InDesign; the second part of the campaign, the website, was developed using Wix.com as the main content management system; finally, the functional interactive prototype of a mobile app was built and customized through Adobe XD.
